Lost Arts — Privacy Policy

Lost Arts is a membership community for creative people. We take your privacy seriously — not as a legal obligation, but because the trust of our members is the foundation everything else is built on.

This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. We’ve written it to be read, not filed away.

Who we are

Lost Arts, LLC is a Delaware limited liability company operating in Chicago, Illinois. We operate the Lost Arts platform at lostarts.xyz and via our iOS app.

What we collect

Information you give us directly:

• Your name and email address when you create an account
• Your profile information — bio, location, skills, what you’re currently building
• Content you share on the platform — project updates, posts, comments, images, audio, and video
• Messages you send to other members

Information we collect automatically:

• Device information, including a push notification token so we can send you session reminders and community updates
• Basic usage data — which features you use and when, so we can improve the platform
• IP address and general location (country/region level)

Information we do not collect:

• Payment information — membership billing is handled externally. We do not store credit card numbers or payment details.
• Precise location
• Contacts from your device

How we use it

We use your information to:

• Run the platform and deliver the features you signed up for
• Send you notifications about sessions, community activity, and your account
• Send our weekly newsletter, On Wandering (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• Understand how people use Lost Arts so we can make it better
• Keep the community safe and enforce our Terms of Service
• Respond to your questions and support requests

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. Lost Arts is member-funded, and that’s how we intend to stay.

Who we share it with

We work with a small number of third-party services to operate the platform. Each receives only the data they need to do their job:

• Firebase (Google) — real-time messaging and push notification delivery
• Vercel — platform hosting and infrastructure
• SendGrid (Twilio) — email delivery
• Daily.co — video sessions

We do not share your personal information with other members beyond what you choose to make visible in your profile and posts.

We may disclose your information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our members or the public.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your membership is active. When you delete your account:

• Your personal information is permanently removed within 7 days
• Content you’ve shared with the community is anonymized and attributed to “Former member” — preserving the context for ongoing conversations while removing your identity
• You’ll receive a confirmation email when deletion is complete

You can request deletion at any time from your account settings.

Your rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

• Access the information we hold about you
• Correct information that’s inaccurate
• Delete your account and personal data (see above)
• Export a copy of your data (contact us at privacy@lostarts.co)
• Opt out of our newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email

If you’re in the European Union or UK (GDPR):

We process your data on the following legal bases:

• Contract — to provide the membership service you signed up for
• Legitimate interests — to improve the platform and keep the community safe
• Consent — for our newsletter (you can withdraw consent at any time)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you’re a California resident (CCPA):

You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it — this policy is that disclosure. We do not sell personal information. You have the right to request deletion, which you can do directly from your account settings.

Children

Lost Arts is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at privacy@lostarts.co and we’ll remove it promptly.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information — encrypted connections, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfect, but we take this seriously.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to how we handle your data, we’ll notify members by email before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
